Permanent residents of Canada can apply for Citizenship once they meet the requirements.

    To become a Canadian citizen, most applicants must:

    • be a permanent resident
    • must be physically present in Canada for at least 3 out of the last 5 years (1,095 days) before the date you sign your application.
    • have filed your taxes for at least 3 years during the 5 years preceding the date of application
    • the application between the age of 18 – 54 years must pass a citizenship test
    • prove your language skills in English or French
