Permanent residents of Canada can apply for Citizenship once they meet the requirements.
To become a Canadian citizen, most applicants must:
- be a permanent resident
- must be physically present in Canada for at least 3 out of the last 5 years (1,095 days) before the date you sign your application.
- have filed your taxes for at least 3 years during the 5 years preceding the date of application
- the application between the age of 18 – 54 years must pass a citizenship test
- prove your language skills in English or French
